Yoga Workout For Beginners
If you are a beginner, there are a few things you should know about yoga. First, it’s not about getting into a pretzel-like position. It’s about finding stillness and peace within yourself. Second, there is no one “right” way to do yoga. You can find a style that works for you and stick with it, or you can try different styles to see what you like best.
Now that you know a little bit about yoga, it’s time to start your practice. The following yoga workout is a great place to start. It’s a basic sequence that will help you get comfortable with the poses and the flow of a yoga class.
The workout consists of six poses: downward dog, cat/cow, warrior I, reverse warrior, high lunge, and pigeon. You’ll do each pose for five breaths, and then move on to the next one.
1. Downward Dog
Start in a tabletop position, with your wrists below your shoulders and your knees below your hips. Tuck your toes and lift your hips up and back, coming into down dog.
2. Cat/Cow
Inhale as you move from down dog into cat, rounding your spine and tucking your chin. Exhale as you move from cat into cow, arching your spine and dropping your head.
3. Warrior I
From down dog, step your right foot forward between your hands, coming into a lunge. Bring your left hand to your left hip and raise your right arm to the sky, coming into warrior I.
4. Reverse Warrior
From warrior I, exhale as you pivot on your left foot and bring your right hand to your left hip. Raise your left arm to the sky, coming into reverse warrior.
5. High Lunge
From reverse warrior, inhale as you step your left foot forward and come into a high lunge. Keep your right knee over your ankle and your left thigh parallel to the floor.
6. Pigeon
From high lunge, exhale as you fold forward, bringing your forehead to the floor. Bring your right ankle in front of your left hip and let your right hip drop toward the floor.
Hot Yoga Videos For Beginners
Hot yoga is a type of yoga that is practiced in a heated room. The heat allows you to stretch further and get deeper into the poses. It is a great way to start your day or to use as a workout.
There are a few things you should know before you start hot yoga. First, you should always listen to your body and take breaks when you need them. Second, you should always drink plenty of water before and after class. Third, you should never eat a large meal before class. And finally, you should always use a yoga mat.
If you are new to hot yoga, I recommend starting with a beginner video. There are a lot of great beginner videos out there. My personal favorite is the Yoga With Adriene video series. Adriene is a yoga teacher and actress who has over 4 million followers on YouTube. Her videos are fun, informative, and easy to follow.
The best way to get the most out of your hot yoga practice is to be consistent. Try to practice at least 3 times a week. And remember, practice makes progress!
