Spotlight different class styles

Yoga On C offers a variety of class styles to suit the needs of students. Power flow is a high-intensity class featuring dynamic sequences, emphasizes strength and speed, and helps students to build physical endurance and resilience. Yin yoga uses passive stretches that target the deep connective tissues between the muscles, which can improve flexibility and help to bring balance in both body and mind. Flow classes typically combine asanas with breathwork to create a meditative experience. Hatha yoga is a more traditional style of practice that incorporates poses held for several breaths at a time, focusing on alignment and building concepts gradually. Restorative classes use props like bolsters, blocks and blankets to support the body in relaxing postures designed to calm the nervous system. Finally, Hot classes held in an environment where the air temperature is higher than normal allow for an improved joint range of motion and assist in releasing toxins from the muscles. No matter what class style you choose, Yoga On C has something for everyone

Step-by-step instructions

1. Mountain Pose – Stand up straight with your feet together and arms by your side. Feel the way your body weighs down into the ground, letting the soles of your feet be firmly rooted into the floor. Make sure that your chin is tucked in and spine is straight. This pose helps to bring awareness to physical and mental balance within the body.

2. Cat/Cow Pose – Start off on all fours with your wrists in line with shoulders and knees in line with hips. Inhale as you tilt your tailbone to the sky arching through the spine ensuring that no pressure falls onto the neck or lower back, simultaneously drawing shoulder blades away from each other (this is cow pose). Exhale bringing belly button towards spine, rolling shoulder blades inward whilst tucking chin against chest (this is cat pose). This movement helps awaken energy centers along spine improving flexibility.

3. Warrior 1 Pose – Step one foot forward a few feet from behind keeping ankles under hips as you plant your foot firmly on ground (ensuring toes are pointing forwards). With other leg remaining behind bend knee keeping it above ankle as weight shifts mainly over front leg, keep gaze focused at horizon in front ensuring head remains aligned with spine (avoiding any strain over neck or upper back) bringing both arms overhead as if trying to reach ceiling palms facing opposite direction adopting an ‘Island stance’ effect knees slightly bent to increase stability gradually dropping hips down feeling stretch over legs and inner thighs depending on comfort level hold position for 2-5 breaths before switching sides. Warrior 1 strengthens muscles of legs whilst elongating those along spine creating a comfortable open feeling over chest area ideal for opening up heart space increasing circulation throughout whole body contributing towards emotional balance as well as physical stamina building single sided focus stimulating balance within Chakras leading towards a mindful state of being.
