Touch on nutrition

Eating right is an important part of enhancing your yoga practice. Our bodies need a balance of nutrients to support healthy movement, reduce fatigue and aches, and nourish our muscles, keeping them strong and flexible.

Examples of healthy food choices that support one’s yoga journey include whole grains like quinoa, oats and brown rice; antioxidant-rich fruits such as citrus, pomegranate, and mango; nuts and seeds like walnuts and chia seeds; plant-based proteins including tofu, edamame, lentils, and black beans; healthy fats including olive oil, avocado oil and sesame oil; dairy options such as Greek yogurt or cottage cheese for calcium intake; green leafy vegetables for their energy-boosting chlorophyll content; lean proteins such as lean turkey or grass-fed beef; omega-3 fatty acids from fish; probiotic foods like plain yogurt or kefir for digestive health; low glycemic index foods to keep blood sugar levels stable throughout the day. Additionally, drinking plenty of water throughout the day can help detoxify your body naturally. Making sure we stay hydrated before a practice helps lubricate our joints which enhances flexibility during poses. Drinking post yoga helps replenish lost electrolytes from sweat during practice.

Insight from the instructors

I am Joe, an experienced yoga instructor at Yoga Ocean City NJ. I have been practicing yoga for many years now and I am happy to share my knowledge with others in our classes. My goal is to help each student reach their full potential while having a safe and enjoyable practice.

In my experience, yoga has the power to both release physical tension and stress as well as provide spiritual guidance and self-discovery. I focus on creating a safe and respectful environment in my classes so that students can express themselves freely. By doing so, they are able to unlock their inner strength and creativity hidden within them.

By blending controlled breathwork into the movements, I lead each student into a mindful space where they can go deeper within themselves and find clarity in their minds and peace in their hearts. My aim is that everyone leaves class feeling more centered, energized and balanced than when they arrived.
