Yoga For Overweight Male Beginners

Beginner Mother Daughter Yoga Poses
There’s no need to be intimidated by yoga if you’re a beginner – or if you’re beginner daughter and you want to do yoga with your mother. In fact, there are plenty of yoga poses that are perfect for beginners. Here are a few of our favourites:
Downward-Facing Dog
This pose is a great way to start your practice, as it helps to lengthen the spine and open up the chest. Start in a tabletop position, with your hands directly below your shoulders and your knees directly below your hips. Then, tuck your toes and lift your hips up and back, bending your elbows and pressing your heels towards the floor. Hold for five deep breaths.
Cat-Cow
This pose is also great for spinal flexibility and mobility. Start on your hands and knees in a tabletop position, with your shoulders directly over your wrists and your hips over your knees. Inhale as you arch your spine up and look up, and exhale as you round your spine and tuck your chin. Continue moving back and forth between these two positions for five breaths each.
Warrior I
This pose is a great way to build strength and stamina, and it also opens up the hips and chest. Start in a standing position, with your feet hip-width apart. Turn your right foot out 90 degrees and your left foot in slightly. Bend your right knee and reach your right arm up towards the sky. Hold for five deep breaths, then switch sides.
Mountain Pose
This is a basic standing pose that helps to build strength and balance. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and your arms at your sides. Engage your abs and glutes, and lift your chest. Hold for five deep breaths.
