What Is Tantric Yoga?

Mountain Pose:

This posture is a standing posture, meant to ground the body while helping to develop core strength, balance and mindful body awareness. Start by standing with the feet hip-width apart, toes pointing forward. Reach the arms out to the sides and be sure to align them with the shoulders. Firmly press your feet into the ground and draw the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles up and in towards the spine. Hold for 30-60 seconds, breathing softly and focusing the attention inward.

Tree Pose:

This balancing posture helps focus and expand the mind, as well as improve coordination and concentration. Begin in a standing position, with the feet hip-width apart and the arms at the sides. Now shift the weight onto the left foot and bring the sole of the right foot to the inside of the left leg, remembering to keep the hips squared forward. Bring the arms up overhead and press the palms together firmly. Find a point to focus your gaze and align the breath with the movements. Hold for 30-60 seconds and release the right foot to the ground.

Supine Twist:

This posture is designed to open the chest, clear any stagnant energy, and improve flexibility in the spine. Lie on your back with the arms extended out to the sides and pull the right knee into the chest. Cross the right knee over the body and bring it to the left side, while allowing the left arm to rest alongside the body. Hold for 30-60 seconds and breathe deeply into the area. Be sure to keep the shoulders and neck relaxed.
