Why I Stopped Doing Yoga
I used to do yoga. I really did. I’d go to class every week, and I’d even practice at home. I loved the way it made me feel – stretched and refreshed, like I’d just had a good night’s sleep.
But then something happened. I started to feel really stiff after yoga class. It wasn’t just my muscles that were tight – my hips and shoulders were as well. I chalked it up to getting older, and I kept going to yoga class. But the stiffness kept getting worse.
I finally realized that the yoga was the problem, not the solution. My body wasn’t used to all that stretching, and it was protesting. So I stopped doing yoga, and my body started to feel better.
Now, I’m not saying that yoga is bad for everyone. It’s great for some people. But it wasn’t right for me. I’m now a Pilates convert – it’s a little less strenuous, and my body likes it a lot better.
