Help With Yoga Sequencing

There are a few things to consider when sequencing yoga poses. The first is what you are trying to achieve in your class. Are you looking to work on strength? Flexibility? Balance? Or perhaps a little bit of everything?

The second thing to consider is the ability level of your students. You don’t want to put someone in a pose that is too challenging for them or that could potentially cause injury.

Finally, you need to take into account the time you have for your class. You don’t want to sequence a bunch of poses that are going to take too long to perform.



With that in mind, here are a few basic sequences that you can use in your classes.

If you’re looking to work on strength, here is a basic sequence:

1. Downward Dog
2. Upward Dog
3. Warrior I
4. Warrior II
5. Reverse Warrior
6. High Lunge
7. Low Lunge
8. Chair Pose
9. Extended Triangle Pose
10. Half Camel Pose

If you’re looking to work on flexibility, here is a basic sequence:

1. Child’s Pose
2. Cat-Cow Pose
3. Downward Dog
4. Lizard Pose
5. Runner’s Lunge
6. Half Camel Pose
7. Pigeon Pose
8. Fish Pose
9. King Pigeon Pose
10. Happy Baby Pose

If you’re looking to work on balance, here is a basic sequence:

1. Mountain Pose
2. Half Moon Pose
3. Warrior III
4. Tree Pose
5. Half Camel Pose
6. Eagle Pose
7. Garuda Mudra
8. King Pigeon Pose

Kids Yoga Class Sequence

:

1. Warm-up:

Start with a few basic warm-up poses to get the blood flowing and the body energized. This could include Downward Dog, Child’s Pose, Mountain Pose, and Cat/Cow.

2. Sun Salutations:

Next, move into a few rounds of Sun Salutations to further warm up the body.

3. Yoga Poses:

Now it’s time to get into some specific yoga poses. There are no wrong poses in a kids class, so let the students explore and have fun! You can choose a few poses that are beginner-friendly, or mix it up with a few more challenging poses.

4. Relaxation:

End the class with some relaxation poses and a few deep breaths. This is a great time for students to wind down and reflect on their practice.
